PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition suitable as a high-solid paint, etc., free from unevenness of gloss, by copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid hydroxyalkyl ester, etc., in the presence of a specific vinyl resin stabilizer and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by copolymerizing (A) 85-65wt% mixture of (i) an alpha,beta-monoethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid hydroxyalkyl ester and (ii) an alpha,beta-monoethylenic unsaturated monomer other than the component (i) in the presence of (B) 15-35wt% mixture of (iii) 99-90wt% solvent-soluble vinyl resin stabilizer produced by the copolymerization of (a) an N-alkoxymethylated monomer of an alpha,beta- monoethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid amide and (b) an alpha,beta-monoethylenic unsaturated monomer other than the component (a) and (iv) 1-10wt% ethylene- vinyl acetate copolymer in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent which dissolves all of the above monomers but does not dissolve the copolymer of the component (A). The content of the component (iv) in the final non-water dispersed resin composition is 0.2-2.0wt%.
