PURPOSE:To achieve a measurement accurately after a bending by pivoting an oscillatory probe rotatably with respect to the optical axis to make it approach an object to be measured from a desired direction. CONSTITUTION:A probe 1 is provided with a projector 12 for projecting a fine beam, an mirror 14 is mounted at the tip of the producer 12 at 45 deg. to the optical axis A. An light receiver 16 is provided on the reflected light beam and at the tip of a body 10 formed in the shape of L. An oscillatory shaft 18 is connected to a projection 10a provided on the side where a body 10 is engaged with a pivot unit 2, making the right angle to the optical axis. Projections 20a and 20b are provided to grasp the projection 10a at one end of a body 20, the shaft 18 is supported with the projection in such a manner as to free to oscillate and a rotary shaft 20c is fastened on the other end of the body 20. When a probe 1 is at the vertical position, a detection switch 28 is turned ON while when it is at a horizontal position, a detection switch 30 is turned ON. The angle of turning of the unit 2 is detected with an encoder 42 of a detector 8 to be used for the calculation of coordinates of an object W to be measured.
