PURPOSE:To take proper countermeasures quickly and maintain and control devices surely, easily, and inexpensively by providing a terminal controller with the dialing function, the transmission function, etc., to monitor states of devices automatically in the host side. CONSTITUTION:If state signals sent from devices 10-12 to a terminal controller 5 are changed, the controller 5 issues a dial command, and a call signal is transmitted from a slave-side MODEM 4 to a host-side MODEM 2. Then, data link is established between a host 1 and the controller 5, and status information is transmitted twice from the controller 5 to the host 1, and the host 1 collates input information. If this collation results in coincidence, the host 1 performs the processing of communication with slaves 6-8; and when a line is connected, required data of devices 10-12 are gathered from slaves 6-8. That is, the controller 5 is provided with the dial function and the transmission function to monitor states of devices automatically in the host side, and proper processings are performed quickly to maintain and control devices easily, surely, and inexpensively.
