PURPOSE:To accurately count the number of vector elements by making the number of effective bits of vector calculation of a vector mask the number of vector elements instead of making the vector length the number of vector elements when executing masked vector calculation. CONSTITUTION:In case of vector calculation without a mask, the vector length is the number of vector elements. Accordingly, the content of a vector length register 4 is inputted as the number of vector elements from a selector 7 to a number of vector element counter 2 by a select signal 8. On the other hand, in case of vector calculation with a mask, the number of effective bits of vector calculation of a vector mask register 5 is the number of vector elements,, and accordingly, the content of a vector mask counter 6 is inputted as the number of vector elements from the selector 7 to the number of vector element counter 2 by the select signal 8. In both cases, the number of vector elements selected by the selector 7 is counted by the number of vector element counter 2 responding to a count signal 3.
