PURPOSE:To reduce number of machining processes by slicing a cylindrical plastic body and at the same time cutting a groove on the slice by means of a groove cutting means. CONSTITUTION:On the circumference of a cylindrical plastic body 1 are arranged a cutting means A for slicing the end of the cylindrical body and a groove cutting means B for cutting a groove on the slice 2. By inserting the groove cutting means B into a gap behind the slice 2 cut off with the cutting means A, a spiral groove 5 is engraved by forcing a cutting tool tip 4a against a surface to be engraved in combined rotary motion with the cylindrical plastic body 1. Accordingly, unlike conventional method, there is no need for slicing after the groove is machined, enabling reduction in the number of manufacturing processes. |
