PURPOSE:To enable the mounting of an electrode as stably and appropriately sealed, and a method wherein a cylinder having a flat surface for supporting an electrode is molded previously with a ceramic material and is mounted to a measuring tube, baked to one-piece and fixed with an electrode inserted thereinto. CONSTITUTION:A through-hole 11 for mounting an electrode is provided on the side wall section of a measuring tube 1 made of a ceramic material. On the other hand, a cylinder 10 for supporting an electrode made of a ceramic material with a flat surface 10a at one end thereof is prepared by baking and the work is baked entirely with the cylinder 10 inserted into the through-hole of the measuring tube 1 to make the measuring tube 1 and the cylinder 10 to one-piece. Thereafter, while a seal material 5 is interposed with a flange section 2a of the electrode 2 is abutted on a flat surface 10a of the cylinder 10, the electrode 2 is inserted into the cylinder 10 and pressed securely. This enables the mounting of the measuring tube 1 simply and accurately with the electrode 2 as stably and appropriately sealed.
