PURPOSE:To attain the reproduction even with a video tape recorder of a conventional recording system by setting the 3rd head at a position opposite by 180 deg. to at least one of a pair of heads. CONSTITUTION:Both heads Y1 and Y2 have the same azimuth angle, e.g., -6 deg.. While heads C1, C2 and Y3 have different azimuth angle from those heads Y1 and Y2, e.g., +6 deg.. The track width of heads Y1, Y2 and Y3 are set at 27mum with the track heads of heads C1 and C2 set at 25mum respectively. Furthermore the head Y2 is distant from the head Y1 by an amount 369mum corresponding to a single horizontal scan period (1H) of the video signal from a position symmetrical to the head Y1 at 180 deg.. While the head C2 is set distant from the head C1 by an amount 369mum from the position symmetrical to the head C1 at 180 deg.. The head Y3 is set at the position symmetrical to the head Y at 180 deg.. The head Y1 (Y2) is distant from the head C1 (C2) by an amount 3.689mm equivalent to 10H in terms of time.
