PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a product by incorporating specific weight % each of Me-Al, SiO2, K2O, etc., into a titled material and consisting of the balance substantially Al2O3. CONSTITUTION:7-20% Me-Al, 10-23% CaO, 15-23% SiO2, <=2% Fe2O3, 8-15% FeO, 0.3-2% K2O, etc., are incorporated into the exothermic heat insulating material and the balance thereof is substantially constituted of Al2O3. The loss on ignition is controlled to <=8% in this stage. The Me-Al component assures the heat insulating characteristic of the exothermic heat insulating material and the CaO and SiO2 components increase the basicity to improve the casting surface of the product. The K2O, etc., decrease the strength of slag and improve the removability thereof. The casting surface of the product is improved and the defects thereof are prevented by the above-mentioned method and therefore, the quality of the product is improved.
