PURPOSE:To expand a plate-like metal blank by pulling it to the right and left and to obtain the expanded metal having large expanding width by arranging in zigzags plural longitudinal slots in three lines in the upper and lower, right and left directions of the late-like metal blank having reinforcing part at both sides and by linking the middle of each longitudinal slot at both sides with a horizontal slot. CONSTITUTION:A plate-like metal blank 11 is composed of plural angular tube like reinforcing parts 12 which are in parallel each other and the linking wall part 13 which links integrally at the medium part of the thickness thereof. Two projecting bars 14 extending to the upper and lower directions at the prescribed intervals in the right and left directions respectively are provided on the upper and lower both faces of the linking wall part 13, then. The slot line in three rows is then made by forming plural longitudinal slots 15, 16, 17 between the mutual projecting bars 14 and between the projecting bar 14 and angular tube like reinforcing part 12. In this case, the longitudinal slots 16, 17 at the right and left both sides and the longitudinal slot 15 at the center are made in zigzags in the upper and lower directions. The longitudinal slot 16 and 17 are connected by forming a horizontal slot 18 between the mutual intermediate part in the length of the longitudinal slots 16, 17. Thereafter, the expanded metal 1 is made by enlarging the blank 11 by pulling it in the right and left directions.
