PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of smear by starting the storage of a sensor at the timing of an odd field in the case of N=2n and starting it at the timing of an even field in the case of N=2n+1 when the exposure period corresponds to (N+X)-number of fields (0<X<1). CONSTITUTION:An optical shutter 2, an iris mechanism 3, and a lens system 4 are arranged on the front of a solid-state image sensor 1. The output of an exposure sensor 5 is processed by an exposure processing circuit 6 and is supplied to a system control circuit 7. On a basis of the sensor output the iris mechanism 3 is controlled by the circuit 7 and the exposure period is set. After a release button 12 is depressed, an electronic shutter trigger signal CLSG is outputted from the circuit 7. The signal GLSG is raised at the timing of an about odd field in the case of N=2n and is raised at the timing of (1-X) of an about even field in the case of N=2n+1 when the exposure period corresponds to the (N+X)-number of fields (0<X<1).
