PURPOSE:To save the memory capacity by placing conversion controlling information related to program unit in execution on a main memory, controlling other information by a data set, and replacing conversion controlling information on the main memory correspondingly when the execution program unit is changed. CONSTITUTION:Respective conversion controlling information 15, 16 of main and auxiliary program units A, B are placed on a main memory area 13 and the data set 14 of an external memory. The unit A is taken out successively by an interpreter 17 and converted to machine instruction string and put into execution. When a CALL statement that calls the unit B is detected, the information 15 on the area 13 is shunted to the data set 14, and information 16 of the unit B is read out from the data set 14 and placed on the area 13, and the unit B is executed by the interpreter 17.
