The present invention relates to a device for opening and closing an opening shutter of a building in accordance with the main patent, and comprising a pneumatic spring. According to the invention, so as to obtain slight play and without friction even when the shutter is slightly warped, provision is made for the articulations 4,5 which connect the pneumatic spring 3 to the said shutter, on the one hand, and to the fixed frame of the opening on the other hand, to be of the swivel type, and preferably to comprise a cage made from plastic. Advantageously, the pneumatic spring 3 is further provided with a position detector which can be connected to means capable of raising the alarm in the event of undesired opening. <IMAGE>
