PURPOSE:To reduce the scrap processing time by guiding the part which does not conform to a prescribed dimension of a strip delivered from a coil into a flapper gate and taking up the strip onto a reel and sending only the part which conforms to the prescribed dimension to the next process. CONSTITUTION:A strip 1 is delivered from a coil and supplied into a shear 2. When the dimension of the strip 1 does not conform to a prescribed dimension, this fact is detected, and a flapper gate 4 is turned in the direction shown by the full line, and the strip is taken up onto a reel 10 through a taking-up guide 13. Only the strip part which conforms to the prescribed dimension is sheared by cutters 3 and 3a, and the flapper gate 4 is set at the position shown by the dotted line and sent into the next process. A series of operations are automatically controlled by a predetermined program. Therefore, the working efficiency can be improved.
