<p>The invention relates to a table lamp. This table lamp is characterised in that the support pedestal 1 is substantially flat and has a preferably oval contour and in that one of its halves is extended by a vertical arm or column 5 having at its free end a chamfer 6 in order to define a narrowed part through which it is hinged with the screen 9, this screen having, at its internal part, a deflector 11, the bulb 12 fixed in its socket 13, the holder 14 of the socket 13 in question and the corresponding switch 15; the hinge 18 is a ball socket 16 having a reduced zone or curved groove 19 where it is possible to place the contact 20 of the switch 15 acting when the screen 9 is tilted in order for it to fold at the contact point on the front flat surface 17 of the vertical arm 5.
