The invention relates to a device making it possible automatically to open and close silos for making silage (maize, grass, damp grain, etc), which are covered with nylon tarpaulins. It consists of a gantry 22 which rigidly joins together two rolling chassis 1, 2, 3 each having clamping guides 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. This same gantry 22 supports the pulleys 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 through which the cables 25, 26, 27 pass which, under the action of the winch 35 driven by an electric motor 39, raise or lower the tarpaulin. The latter is wound around the tube 21 whose horizontality is ensured by three rollers held by a metal reinforcing system (numbered from 40 to 53). This tube 21 rotates in a bearing bush 20 connected to the rolling chassis via two square tubes 14 and 17, articulated at 15 and at 18, with a mini-gantry 24 reinforcing the assembly. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for farms having, in their structures, silos which are matched to the arrangements of the apparatus. <IMAGE>
