1,138,216. Seats; securing upholstery. BOSTROM MFG. CO. Ltd. 12 June, 1967 [21 June, 1966], No. 27659/66. Headings A4J and A4M. In a tractor or like seat, drainage tubes 15 are formed in one piece with a waterproof covering skin 12, which retains foamed rubber or plastic upholstery 11 on seat pan 10, and is sealed at the edges of the seat pan holes, to prevent rainwater from reaching the upholstery. In fitting a skin 12, of polyvinyl chloride or silicone rubber, over upholstery 11, the edge of the skin is first sealed into a beaded rim (13, Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) of the sheet metal seat pan 10, by means of a plastic strip (17) and an epoxy adhesive. Air is removed by suction via the seat pan holes and resilient grommets 16 are sprung into position, to seal the walls of tubes 15 against the edges of the holes. |
