A lathe driver comprises a body 2 having a shoulder 6, a series of slotted bushings 8, 14 having similar shoulders 10, set screws 16 for compressing the bushings, screws 18, and a driving pin 20. The work may be clamped directly by screws 18, or it may be held in a suitable one of the bushings located in body 2. Pin 20 is stored in a bore 22 to be held by a screw 26 when not in use, and it is held by the screw in a bore 24 during use. In a modification, pin 20, Fig. 8, is held by a spring-loaded ball 21. In a further modification, a thin wall cylindrical workpiece 32, Fig. 6, is held in a chuck 32, and is supported radially by the dog. Screws 18 are replaced by studs 34, locknuts 38, and nuts 36. A thin wall cylindrical workpiece may be held between lathe centres by two drivers carried on a mandrel. |
