The invention relates to a device for linking between a driving shaft and a driven shaft, comprising a differential gear combined with a free-wheel drive mechanism. The differential gear comprises a ring gear 10 with internal teeth, a satellite gear-carrying chassis 12, sets of two satellite gears 16 which come into engagement with one another and with the inner teeth of the ring gear 10 and outer teeth 20 of the driven shaft 14 respectively, the free-wheel drive mechanism 22 being mounted between the ring gear 10 and the driven shaft 14. An electromagnetic brake 30 makes it possible to prevent or allow rotation of the satellite gear-carrying chassis 12 for selecting one or other of the two transmission ratios. The invention applies especially to driving the electric generator of a cold-producing unit in a refrigerated vehicle. <IMAGE>
