An alarm device (18) for two-dimensional objects such as wallets (10) is proposed, which can be activated by means of a switch (20) which responds to light. The alarm device (18) is arranged inside the object (10) and the switch (20) can be exposed to light via an opening which is situated in one side of the object. Furthermore, the circuit (24) can be interrupted by means of a further, preferably mechanical, switch (25), the latter being actuable by means of a covering element.
