The sleeve (1) is made in the shape of a C and has projections (3) at the opening of the C so shaped that they guide the wire or cable (6) into the sleeve. The projections are hinged by a weatened zone (2) and are turned by the wire or cable into the mouth of the sleeve and so accure the sleeve on the cable. Alternative shapes of the hinged projections are shown but all have the same purpose of securing the sleeve on the cable. Provision (8) is made for the insertion of marking or coding devices (7).
