1,171,946. Sliding clasp fasteners. H. POREPP. 30 Nov., 1966 [30 Nov., 1965], No. 53725/66. Heading E2S. A sliding-clasp fastener includes two stringers each comprising a carrier tape 3 and a filament of plastics material in the shape of a serpentine of which the return bends on one side have coupling heads and constitute links each of which, viewed along the length of the serpentine, has a shape of a figure eight that is split with the ends of the split being displaced longitudinally of the carrier tape and serving in the case of each intermediate link to couple the link to the adjacent links, said serpentine being secured to its carrier tape by stitching 4, 5. In one embodiment for each stringer, the stitches comprise two separate parallel seams. In another embodiment, for each stringer, the stitching is a double chain stitch seam having two parallel rows of stitches with a locking thread interlinking between the rows of stitches on that side of the serpentine not in contact with its carrier tape. In a modification, a cover strip or cord is disposed on each row on the side facing away from the carrier tape and secured by the stitching. |
