PURPOSE:To easily oppose an I.T.V camera to the CRT of a color television set at stopping a color CRT to be carried on a conveyor line at predetermined position and changing the direction of the ITV camera. CONSTITUTION:A color television set to be carried on a carrying system 13 is stopped at a fixed position. Then a television set 111, for example, is photographed by means of an ITV camera to produce an image which is subjected to A/D conversion 6, then written into a picture image memory 7, and the brightness distribution at a predetermined position is measured for the image written into the memory by means of a CPU 10. Then the measured brightness distribution is compared with a standard brightness distribution of specific type of CRT preset by the CPU 10 and a positional shift is calculated. Said positional shift is employed as a correcting quantity of the camera 1 and a drive circuit for a position correcting mechanism of the camera 1 is controlled to drive the camera 1 such that it will face against the CRT of the color television set at an accurate position.
