PURPOSE:To enhance workability of the clock parts in the caption and at the same time to carry out a work without operators for a long period, by carrying out continuously straightening machining, surface layer hardening and lathe turning of a free-cutting steel in a softened coil wire state. CONSTITUTION:A free-cutting steel containing 0.2% of carbon and lead in form of a coil-shaped raw wire is used as a material to be machined. Then, wire drawing 2 is carried out, and after the diameter of a wire is furnished to 0.12mmphi, for example, the wire is annealed a in a coil wire state at a temperature of 800 to 900 deg.C. In the state, straightening 4 and hardening 5 are carried out continuously by means of a straightening device and a laser hardening having a previous planned layout for making continuous machining with an automatic lathe, and about 200mum of the surface layer is hardened to complete the wire as a material to be machined. Further, the wire is fed to the automatic lathe and lathe turning 6 is carried out to produce clock parts.
