PURPOSE:To permit a rotatingly traveling rolled material to be cut by a saw unit traveling at the same speed with the stock in the same direction without stopping a line, by clamping the predetermined length of the rolled material at a cutting position. CONSTITUTION:A rolled material 6 travels on a line passing through guides of a clamp mechanism 23 and a chuck mechanism 41. When the rolled material 6 travels a predetermined distance after its front end is detected, it is chucked by the mechanism 41. Since the mechanism 41 rotates through a bearing, the rotation of the rolled material 6 is not checked. When the rolled material 6 is chucked, a car 4 moves on a rail 1b together with the rolled material 6. A saw car 2 cuts the rolled material 6 by the rotation of a saw blade 31 to a predetermined length while the saw car 2 is traveling at the same speed with the rolled material 6.
