The invention relates to a lock having a catch (12) which can be actuated by means of a latch, a bolt (13) which can be actuated by means of a lock cylinder and a connecting rod (5), which can move in and out transversely to the bolt, of a connecting rod lock, the connecting rod drive diverting from the engagement and disengagement of the bolt, and the said invention proposes, in order to obtain a favourable transmission of force while keeping the structure simple, that a pivot lever (23) and the connecting rod connection piece (22) rest on the lock floor (6) and that both the lever (23) and the connection piece (22) be overlapped by the end (13'') of the bolt, beneath which the bearing pin (24) of the pivot lever (13) is seated on the lock floor (6), the arm (23'), which is coupled to the bolt (13), of the pivot lever (23) pivoting into a niche (39) in the connecting rod connection piece (22) in the prelocked position, which niche (39) is situated adjacent to a slot (38) which forms the coupling engagement between the pivot lever (23) and the connecting rod connection piece (22), and into which slot (38) projects the free end of a finger (23''') of the pivot lever limb (23''). <IMAGE>
