PURPOSE:To produce a Cr stainless steel strip having excellent surface characteristics and formability by casting a Cr stainless steel to a thin slab having a specific thickness then immediately subjecting the slab to holding under specific conditions and hot finish rolling at a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:The Cr stainless steel is cast to the thin slab having <=60mm thickness and is immediately thereafter subjected to holding once in a 900-1,150 deg.C range for >=5min. The slab is then subjected to hot rolling and is finished at the rolling end temp. of >=800 deg.C-<=1,100 deg.C; thereafter, the steel sheet is subjected to annealing, pickling, cold rolling and finish annealing. The component range of the Cr stainless steel is generally specified to about <=0.20% C, about <=1.00% Si, about <=1.00% Mn, about <=0.04% P, about <=0.03% S, and about 10.5-19.5% Cr. The need for the stages for heating and hot rough rolling of the slab is thus eliminated and the Cr stainless steel strip having the excellent ridging characteristic and formability is produced at a low cost. |
