The invention concerns a method for secure data transmission using a cyclic block code, particularly a BCH code with a frame structure in matrix form, in which, on the basis of a given channel transmission speed, data is transmitted at the highest bit rate without repetition, and at bit rates equal to the highest bit rate divided by whole numbers n with (n - 1)-fold repetition, and has the following distinguishing features: - The same synchronisation procedure and bit interleaving method are used for all bit rates. - A short block code is used. - In transmitting the N blocks, the temporal position of these N blocks and/or of the individual bit positions within a block are cyclically shifted (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
