PURPOSE:To position a sheet accurately, in a sheet feeder for feeding a document automatically to the exposing position in copier, by setting the operating amount of final carrying mechanism on the basis of the detected results of length of sheet fed out through a carrying mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A document feeder in copier is comprised of a separator 30 for feeding the document 38 on a document table 37 one by one while separating and a carrying system 31 for carrying the document 38 from said separator 30 to predetermined position to be driven by independent driving sources. Here, a document detecting means SER is provided near the outlet of separator 30 to provide the output to an electronic control means. Under operation of said separator 30, the length of document is detected with correspondence to the time interval when said means SER is detecting the document or the amount of document to be fed during sid time interval thus to set the operating amount of carrying system 31 since said means SER has completed detection of document in accordance to the distance between said predetermined position and the target position and the detected length of document. |
