PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a 3n-times higher harmonic component in an output waveform by forming an inverter main circuit by first and second single-phase bridge inverters and driving these inverters by predetermined logic pattern signals. CONSTITUTION:An inverter main circuit 1 is formed by first and second single- phase bridge inverters 2a, 2b consisting of two arms with switching elements Tr1-Tr8, each ON-OFF controlled by sine-wave approximate PWM logic pattern signals. The logic pattern signals are shifted 120 deg. between the arms for the same single-phase bridge inverters, and shifted 90 deg. between the first and second single-phase bridge inverters.
