1161307 Stretching rails; vices GREENSIDE HYDRAULICS Ltd 14 June 1968 28290/68 Headings E1G G29 and C20X6 A rail stretching machine for use when welding together railway rails to produce gap-free track comprises a pair of crossheads 2A, 2B, one connected between the rams 5 or between tie-bar extensions to the rams and the other connected between the cylinders 1, each crosshead having in the underside a recess 7 tapering in width in the lengthwise direction of the rams and cylinders and diverging towards the other crosshead, and a pair of wedges 8 in each recess with parallel mutuallyfacing grooves 9 of semi-circular cross-section and with serrations 10 or other tooth-like formations extending round the grooves. Screws 12 are provided for tightening the wedges before actuation of the hydraulic rams by a hand pump 6. |
