Novel quaternary ammonium compounds of the formula <FORM:1061457/C2/1> wherein two of the substituents R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent decyl radicals, another of said substituents represents an alkenyl, alkynyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, carboxyalkyl or carbalkoxyalkyl group of not more than 7 carbon atoms, the remaining of said substituents represents an alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group of not more than 7 carbon atoms and X represents an acid anion, are prepared by quaternizing a tertiary amine of the formula NR1R2R3 with a compound of the formula R4XALSO:Pharmaceutical and fungicdal compositions contain an active ingredients novel quaternary ammonium compounds of the fromula: <FORM:1061457/A5-A6/1> wherein two of the substituents R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent decyl radicals, another of said substituents represents an alkenyl, alkynyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, carboxyalkyl or carbalkoxy group of not more than 7 carbon atoms, the remaining of said substituents represents an alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group of not more than 7 carbon atoms and X represents an acid anion. The compositions are active against foot mycosis, yeasts, mould fungi and bacteria and may take the form of powders, solutions, suspensions, emulsions or aerosols, ointments and salves being exemplified. |
