<p>PURPOSE:To simply and effectively obtain the titled material having excellent after-processability, tensile strength and flexural strength, by providing a sleeve composed of a thermoplastic resin around a bundle of a fiber mixture of a plurality of thermoplastic fibers and a plurality of reinforcing fibers. CONSTITUTION:A bundle of a reinforcing fiber 1 and a bundle of a thermoplastic resin fiber 2 are set to unwinding machines 13, 14, wound up at a given rate through a fiber mixing device 3 and subjected to filament separation and opening. A tension of 2g or above is applied to the fibers and the surfaces of the fibers are treated with rollers 15, 5 to form a bundle of a fiber mixture. The bundle of the fiber is fed to a sleeve covering device composed of a thermoplastic resin extruder 8 and a sleeve-covering crosshead 6 to cover the fiber with the flexible thermoplastic resin. The resulting composite material is deaerated by a deaerating pump 7 to allow the sleeve to adhere closely with the fiber. The material is solidified by cooling in a cooler 10, taken off at a given rate by a Nelson feed roll 11 and wound up around a wind-up device 12 to obtain a flexible composite material composed of a sleeve consisting of 15-30vol% thermoplastic resin fiber and 85-70vol% reinforcing fiber and a wall thickness of 10-200mum.</p> |
