A stationary array of contacts, e.g. studs or printed circuits, is provided on a board 3, and a corresponding array of contacts 17 is carried by a frame 16.which is biased away from board 3 by springs 22 but which may be lowered to sense a punched card by pivoting arm 23 about shaft 19 whereby arm 23 presses against a bar 26 provided on frame 16. Arm 23 may be rotated manually or by a solenoid 2. The. contacts 17 may comprise pairs of spring contacts stamped from strip metal. Guide pins 37, 38 assist in aligning an inserted card, and pins 38 have a shoulder or resilient sleeve which latches beneath the card during a reading operation and which lift the card over a shoulder in the entrance slots when frame 16 is allowed to rise. A microswitch 35 detects correct insertion of a card and is connected in circuit with solenoid 2. Switch, 35 also supplies the spring force to partially eject a card after reading.</p> |
