The inner cold liquefied gas, e.g. hydrogen container 1, Fig. 1, of a Dewar flask merges downwardly into a lower smaller diameter portion 3 which is surrounded by a copper radiation screen 7 cooled at its upper end by a bath 6 of liquid nitrogen and the bottom 8, Fig. 2, of portion 3 is held spaced from the outer container wall by means of a thin-walled tube 9 of low thermal conductivity, e.g. stainless steel connected at its upper end to said bottom 8 and connected at its lower end by a ring of solder 10 to the bottom end of a similar thin-walled tube 11 which is connected at its upper end to the screen 7, and finally by a further thin-walled tube 12 forming an extension of screen 7 and connected by spacing pins 13 to the wall of said outer container 4.</p> |
