PURPOSE:To obtain the maximum torque by minimum abrasion by applying driving voltage, phase thereof is controlled, so that an output end surface in a diaphragm conducts rectilinear vibrations in the axial direction or deflection direction of the output end surface and circular or elliptical vibrations having axes in the axial direction and the deflection direction. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic vibrator is constituted by mounting electrostrictive element plates 2, 3 to both side surfaces of a diaphragm 1. Driving voltage, relative phase thereof is controlled, is applied to each electrostrictive element plate 2, 3 so that output end surfaces 9, 10 in the diaphragm 1 perform rectilinear vibrations in the axial direction or deflection direction of the end surfaces 9, 10 and circular or elliptical vibrations having axes in the axial direction and the deflection direction. |
