<p>A catalyst containing (a) an oxide and/or sulphide of a Group VIB metal, (b) an oxide and/or sulphide of a Group VIII metal, and (c) transition alumina, has an oxygen chemisorption activity of at least 185 micromoles oxygen/ g catalyst. A catalyst contg. a Gp VIII metal, a VIB metal and carrier material is prepd. by impregnating shaped particles contg. transition alumina with an ammoniacal soln. (A) of the metals, evaporating to dryness, calcining and sulphiding; (A) has initial pH 10.5-13, pref. 11.0-12.5.</p> |
