PURPOSE:To shorten pickling period by controlling the time and temp. which keep and cool a wound stock after hot rolling and keeping the stock temp. during pickling at a temp. higher than the boiling point of the acid solution under atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION:A high temp. steel slab 1 is rolled by a hot rolling mill 2 and is wound into a wound coil 3. The coil 3 is stored in a coil storage yard 4 and is cooled naturally. Storaging and cooling period and temp. of the coil 3 are controlled by a control device 6 so that the temp. before the coil 3 enters a pickling tank 7 is to be a prescribed temp.; the coil 3 is sent to the tank 7 and is pickled.
