PURPOSE:To attain a high transfer rate with a simple constitution and form precise images with a high density by humidifying a transfer material before the transfer process. CONSTITUTION:Rolls 10a and 10b for impregnating water and a water tank 9 which supplies always water to the roll 10a are arranged at the upstream side of a nip part N on a transfer material carrying path 6. An aperture of the tank 9 is brought into contact with the surface of the roll 10a, and a porous coating film 9a is formed on the aperture. When the water content of the transfer material is set to 5-15% by this humidifier to transfer the image, >=95% transfer rate is attained, and 99% transfer rate is attained on optimum conditions. The water content is increased to form precise images with a high density.
