PURPOSE:To always attain a stable separating action independently of the change of circumstances by arranging a variable resistance member, whose surface resistance is changed in accordance with temperature, in the vicinity of a separating device. CONSTITUTION:A separating device 5 consisting of a supporting member 5a and a destaticizing needle 5b attached as integrally together with this member is arranged below a transfer charger 3 in the running direction of a transfer paper P. A variable resistance plate 7 whose resistance is changed in accordance with temperature is arranged between the charger 3 and the device 5. Since the resistance plate 7 is arranged adjacently to the device 5, it is operated to promote the prescribed separating action in case of a low humidity, and a destaticizing current is discharged to the plate and does not reach a transfer position in case of a high humidity because the resistance of the plate 7 is lower, and therefore, the omission of transfer does not occur. Thus, a stable separating function is attained at a low humidity, and transfer images having high quality are attained at a high humidity.
