PURPOSE:To improve SN ratio of an MOS solid-state image pickup device by lowering floating voltage by displaying signal voltage outputted from a horizontal signal line and inverted reset voltage at positions close to each other on a time space plane. CONSTITUTION:Source follower transistors SFT 4A, 4B current amplify signal voltage VS of vertical signal lines 3A, 3B and output to horizontal signal lines HSL 10A, 10B during output period in which horizontal scanning switches 5A, 5B turn on. Reset switches 11A, 11B turn on in the next reset period, and the lines 3A, 3B are connected to a power source VR0. Lines 10A, 10B output discharge waveform of signal charge of lines 3A, 3B. Switches 11A, 11B turn off in the next holding period and output floating voltage VR to lines HSL 10A, 10B through lines 3A, 3B. In the two-picture element period, reset voltage on the holding period is inverted, and indicated near voltage VS of output period of previous horizontal scanning period having the same reset voltage, and voltage VR is lowered.
