PURPOSE:To shorten the length of a line by coiling a strip subjected to rough rolling with a roughing mill in a coiling box, cutting the crops at the front and rear ends of the strip by a crop shear and subjecting the strip to finish rolling with a finishing mill. CONSTITUTION:The hot strip 3 subjected to rough rolling with the roughing mill 1 is coiled in the direction (a) in the coiling box 2 to a coil which is then conveyed by a roller table 7 to the inlet side of a crop shear 4. The strip is coiled in the direction (b) after the front end thereof is positioned in the lower part so as not to hinder the un-coiling and is so set as to be directed to the downstream side of the rolling line. The front end is subjected to flying shearing by a blade 4b fixed to a rotary drum 4a of a crop shear 4. The scale formed on the front and rear surfaces of the strip 3 is removed by a pinch roll steel breaker 5. The strip is then introduced into a cross finishing mill 6, by which the strip is finish-rolled to a prescribed sheet thickness. The rear end of the hot strip 3 un-coiled in the coil box 2 is also cut by a crop shear 4. |
