PURPOSE:To improve the performance of a heat exchanger, by designing the tube wall of a staggering flat tube thicker than that of conventional one,by making the pitches between the straight parts of a flat tube narrower than those of a conventional one, and by determining the thickness and pitches within a specific range, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The thickness (T) of the wall of a staggering flat tube 2 is determined as 5.5-6.5mm, and the pitches (P) between the straight parts 2a of a staggering flat tube 2 are determined as 21-23mm in a heat exchanger 1. Although such conflicting effects as the rise in heat exchanging rate accompanying the increase in heat transferring surfaces of a heat exchanger 1, and as the lowering of it accompanying the increase in pressure loss are produced, optimum and satisfactory heat exchanging rate can be obtained by determining the thickness (T) of a tube wall and the pitches (P) of the straight parts of a flat tube 2 within the specific ranges as menthioned above.
