METHOD FOR PREVENTING INTRUSION OF NONMETALLIC INCLUSION DURING POURING OF MOLTEN METAL

PURPOSE:To improve the effect of preventing the intrusion of nonmetallic inclusions into a molten metal by pouring the molten metal impressed with a rotating magnetic field into a casting mold through a take-out port provided to the lower outside circumferential part or outside edge at the base of an intermediate vessel. CONSTITUTION:The take-out port 5 for the molten steel 3 is provided to the lower outside circumferential part or the outside edge at the base of the intermediate vessel 1 and is connected via a flow passage 6 to tundish 7. The molten steel 3 is supplied from the ladle 9 into the vessel 1 and while the molten steel 3 is rotated and stirred by a rotating magnetic field generating coil 2 in the vessel 1, the molten steel is taken out of the port 5. The molten steel 3 is poured via the flow passage 6 and the tundish 7 into the casting mold 8. Oxygen concn. is low and the inclusions are fewer on the lower outside circumference and outside edge at the base of the vessel 1. the possibility of the intrusion of the inclusions into the molten metal is low even if the height of the molten metal decreases. The intrusion of the nonmetallic inclusions into the pouring flow is thus effectively prevented by the above-mentioned method.
