PURPOSE:Squeeze of adlay leaves, stems and roots or extract therefrom is used as a preservative to store processed food with high safety. CONSTITUTION:Adlay seeds are harvested, the remaining leaves, stems, roots are ground, or green unmature leaves, stems, seeds are crushed and extracted with water or a solution containing an alkali metal salt, organic acids or alcohols or squeezed. The resultant extract or squeeze are used as a preservative and combined with a processed food by mixing, kneading or dipping.
