PURPOSE:To enable rapid and positive measurements with a simplified construction, when the specified measuring pressure is applied to a specimen by a measuring pressure selector, by holding the indicated value from a controlling calculating unit to stay. CONSTITUTION:A measuring pressure selector 38 features a free choice of kinds of specimens at the time of the prevent measurement. According to the measuring pressure detecting signal of the selector 38, a counting number control circuit 60 of the controlling calculating unit holds its indicated value. The indicated value thus held, continues to stay as it is, though the specimen is removed from an automatic dimension measuring device 1. Namely, when a new specimen is inserted between moving or stationary spindles 18, 42, the indicated value is released for beginning the measurement of the dimensions of this new specimen and indication of new dimensions. Consequently, a change of the indicated value only is caused by the change of the measuring pressure for a short period of time up to the specified measuring pressure and the indicated value is stabilized and its reading becomes easy.
