PURPOSE:To measure and diagnose various kinds of time relations by providing a time measuring means which measures the optional one-bit time relation of a signal of digital pattern. CONSTITUTION:For example, when a single period is measured, a pattern program is generated to output a digital pattern signal Sb from a digital pattern generating circuit 2, and then the program begins to be executed at the address 0 and ends at the address 2 and the signal Sb goes up to an H level only during the execution of the address 1. The period of the address 1 is set to a period T1 with a control signal Sc, so the signal Sb is a single-shot pulse with pulse width equal to the period T1 and a counter 3 measures the single-shot period. When continuous periods are measured, the signal Sb is outputted 2 and then the signal Sb becomes continuous pulses of T1Xm because an instruction for executing the same address plural times (m) is described in the address 1 of the program and the period of the address 1 is set to the period T1 with the signal Sc, so that the integral values of the continuous periods is measured 3. Consequently, malfunction such as the misgeneration of a rate signal Srt is detected.
