<p>A pulp refining element of the flat disk type includes a plate (11) with an array of rectangular slots (18) formed therein. The refining bars (14) have tongues (16) extending from the bottom of the bars (14) which are received by the slots (18) in mating engagement. The slots (18) are arranged to align the bars (14) in a localized pattern which is repeated about the circumference of the plate (11). The bars (14) are secured onto the plate (11) by a tack weld between the tongues (16) and the underside of the plate (11). </p> |
