998,897. Heating textiles. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 12, 1962 [June 27, 1961], No. 23141/61. Heading F4U. A fluidized bed, e.g. for the heat treatment of textile materials comprises a container 1 having a base and means for supplying gas to said base such that regions adjacent at least one side 21 or 22 of the base have a greater gas supply pressure than that supplied to the central region of said base. As shown, fluidising gas enters compartments 16, 16a of galleries 14, 15 from passageways 17, 18 through orifices 29 in removable bushes 28. The orifices 29 in the compartments 16a adjacent sides 21, 22 are larger in crosssectional area than orifices 29 in compartments 16, e.g. the diameter of orifices in compartments 16a may be <SP>7</SP>/ 8 inch when the diameter of orifices in compartments 16 is <SP>5</SP>/ 8 inch. Any sheet fabric to be treated enters the container by slit 3 between galleries 14, 15. Galleries 14, 15 communicate with the material to be fluidized via the porous floor (Fig. 3, not shown). |
