PURPOSE:To extract and copy an optional area of an original by forming a means for specifying an optional rectangular area and a means for selecting whether the area is to be copied or erased. CONSTITUTION:An original is scanned while keeping the front optical path of a lens 8 always at a fixed value by moving the 1st and 2nd scanning mirrors 5, 7 at the speed ratio of 1:1/2. The image of reflected light is formed on a drum 1 through a lens 8, the 3rd mirror 9 and the 4th mirror 10. The drum 1 is electrostatically charged by a primary charger 12 and the image irradiated by an illumination lamp 16 is exposed through slits in an exposing part 11. The image is destaticized by a destaticizer 13 and the whole surface of the drum 1 is exposed by a whole surface exposing lamp 14 to form an electrostatic latent image with high contrast on the drum 1. The electrostatic latent image on the drum 1 is developed as a toner image by the succeeding developing unit 15. |
