PURPOSE:To obtain an output image having good continuity and gradation property, and a high quality, by determining a density pattern by referring to a peripheral picture element of a converted picture element. CONSTITUTION:In an image information processor, an A/D converter 22, a density gradient detecting circuit and a density pattern generating circuit 26 are provided in a TV camera control unit. In this state, image data which has been inputted from a TV camera which is not shown in the figure are converted to multivalued data by the converter 22, and the multivalued image data of one frame portion is stored in a memory 24. The circuit 25 reads out the image data of one frame portion and executes a comparison of a peripheral picture element of a notice picture element, and determines a density gradient of the peripheral picture element. Also, in the circuit 26, the notice picture element is converted to a density pattern, based on information corresponding to the density gradient.
